In Washington (USA), there is a yoghurt craze (locura) at the moment!  But if you are thinking of a sweet yoghurt, I must tell you that you are WRONG!
In Washington DC, yoghurt is now taken as a snack (aperitivo).  The name of this special yoghurt is "parfait" and it is usually associated with breakfast or lunch.
For breakfast you can have a "parfait yoghurt" with fruit (especially berries), cereals, honey and nuts.

If you visit Washington, you can go to "YOLA" (http://www.yoladc.com/)  if you want to  taste  these special yoghurts.

COCA-COLA HISTORY / HISTORIA DE LA COCA COLA

Good morning everybody, surely you like it, you drink it, you know about it and you have seen it all around the world!  What is it? ...   COCA-COLA !!!

Buenos días a todo el mundo,¡ seguro que os gusta, la bebéis, la conocéis y la hábéis visto por todo el mundo! ¿Qué es?...  ¡¡¡LA COCA COLA!!!

We're going to know some curious things about this famous drink, its origins and much more.

Vamos a conocer cosas curiosas sobre esta famosa bebida, sus orígenes y mucho más.

DID YOU KNOW THAT?...
¿Sabíais que?...

THE ORIGINS
*Coca-Cola is the world's leading non-alcoholic drink.
*Coca-Cola was born in  the southern city of Atlanta, Georgia, USA  in 1886.
* The pharmacist John Pemberton invented Coca-Cola.  He created a non-alcoholic carbonated drink which contained coca leaf (hoja) and kola nuts (nuez de cola).   But this was a medicine that cured a lot of illnesses (enfermedades).  The recipe (receta) of Coca Cola was kept secretly.
*After Pemberton's death, another man, Asa Griggs Candler bought a share in the business and started an advertisement campaign to promote Coca-Cola as a drink not as a medicine and  transformed the drink into an American icon.

*Coca-Cola soon began international distribution and by 1959 was sold in more than 53 countries.
*The perfect time for the company was when the 1996 Olympics were awarded (conceder) to Atlanta and so, they opened a Coca-Cola visitor centre.

*The famous Coca-Cola logo was created by John Pemberton's bookkeeper (contable) in 1885.
*The Coca-Cola bottle design is inspired by the shape of a cocoa pod (vaina de cacao) and it is  recognisable even in the dark.

CURIOSITIES
*In World War II, more than five billion bottles were consumed by military personnel alone!

*The first cans of Coca-Cola appeared in 1955.

*Diet Coke was introduced in 1982.

*In 1985, Coca-Cola became the first soft drink to be consumed in space when astronauts tasted the "Coca-Cola Space Can on board the Challenger Space Shuttle "(cápsula).

*THE INTERACTIVE NEW WORLD OF COCA-COLA is located at Pemberton Place, Atlanta, Georgia.  Adult admission costs $16. For more details: http://www.worldofcoca-cola.com/.
The museum includes more than 1,200 Coca-Cola artefacts and an operational bottling factory (fábrica embotelladora).
At the end of the museum tour you can sample (degustar) Coca-Cola at the Taste it counter!

*The Coca-Cola Company knows that its customers (clientes) are loyal (leales) not only to the brand (marca) but also to Coke's  old-age taste.  In 1985 the company attempted (intentó) to change the flavour (aroma) of Coca Cola with "New Coke" and customers rebelled, so the company returned to the original with "Coca-Cola Classic".

SECRETS
*Even today, the formula of Coca-Cola is unknown for  almost everybody. Only a few priviledged members of Coca-Cola Company know it and it is kept locked (cerrada con llave) in the safe (caja fuerte) of an Atlanta bank.

Surely that  you are liking  to drink at this very moment a brown, sweet and full of bubbles Coca-Cola!!!  So do it!!

HAVE A NICE DAY!!!

MUSIC NEWS / ENGLISH AND AMERICAN SINGERS/ NOTICIAS MUSICALES/ CANTANTES INGLESES Y AMERICANOS

Hi everybody, today we're going to look at some curious music news.

Hola a todo el mundo, hoy vamos a ver algunas noticias musicales curiosas.

**LADY GAGA

Lady Gaga may be more famous for her look than her voice or her songs, but we can consider that she has a sense of humour.
She is 25 years old and she is New Yorker and she was inspìred by David Bowie and Freddie Mercury (two kings of glam rock).  Her name derives from a Queen song.  She has attracted global attention with provocative outfits (conjuntos) which include a dress made of meat and a flamethrower (lanzallamas) bra (sujetador).
Almost all her  songs and albums are hits (éxitos)  like Telephone, Poker Face, Born this way, etc.
She is very controversial but at last people love this kind of celebrities and love dancing with her music.
Lady Gaga is and will be successful  while her fans  love her and music firms love her too!

**RADIOHEAD (a British band).

Few bands are extraordinary in the way Radiohead are.  They are now celebrating their 15 years as a British group.  The band is led (conducida) by goosepimple (piel de gallina)-inducing vocalist Thom Yorke.  Their last album "The King of Limbs", released on CD , is  more a low-key (sencillo).  First impressions are rarely what counts with Radiohead.

**THE AMERICAN GROUP "DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE"

This successful indie band  has recently released (publicado) a new album called "Codes and Keys".
The group have impressed the critics with their lo-fi sound -what Rolling Stone referred to as "emotion...through lack (falta) of emotion" -and their use of unorthodox instruments.

**MOBY'S TIRED.

Moby, the soft-centred (suave) electronic musician,  has released the CD "Destroyed".  It is inspired by his insomnia while on tour and he describes this sound as "broken-down"(averiado) melodic electronic music for empty cities at 2 am.  At the same time a photography book is published.

**NICK'S BACK

Stevie Nicks, now in her 60s, made her name in the 70s with the band FLEETWOOD MAC.
She has now released a new album "In your Dreams" after a successful tour through USA and Canada with Rod Stewart.  The title of the album commemorates her first US chart-topper (encabezar lista de éxitos) "Dreams".

HAPPY SUNDAY!!

SEE YOU.

TRAVEL/THE GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE/ SAN FRANCISCO

Good morning my dear followers, today we are going to look at The Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.  I will give you some information about it  if you decide to visit to this lovely city and its famous bridge.

Buenos días queridos seguidores, hoy vamos a mirar a San Francisco.  Os daré información por si decidís visitar  esta encantadora ciudad y su famoso puente.

**YOU can walk, cycle or drive across one of the most famous bridges in the world.  It is situated on the north side of San Francisco, in California.

**WHICH IS THE BEST SEASON TO GO?
Spring or autumn.

There is an explanation for this:  in summer there is a heavy fog and it's almost impossible to see THE GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE.  From May until September it can be very foggy.

In Winter it is raining a lot.

**THE CITY OF SAN FRANCISCO has a festival called The Golden Gate Bridge Fiesta to celebrate the opening of the bridge in 1937.

**THE BRIDGE is 2.7 km long and weighs over 804 million kg. It was opened to public in 1937.

It is painted a colour called "international orange".

It's now the world's ninth longest suspension bridge.

It has six traffic lanes 75 metres above the water.

It has two towers that are 227 metres.

It has 1.2 million rivets (remaches) in the towers alone.

It has 129,000 kilometres of wire (alambre) in its main cables(cables).

It has a walkway on one side and a cycling lane on the other side.

It has toll booths (cabinas de peaje) on the south side that collect $85 million from motorists a year.

**ON TWO WHEELS.  In SAN FRANCISCO, at Pier 39, there are bike rental shops. A lot of people rent a bike and ride to the Golden Gate Bridge and go down to Sausalito which is a highly visited city.  Then you can take a ferry back to San Francisco.

**ON FOOT (a pie).  You can go and walk out onto the Bridge, you can touch it, you can feel it "moving".
There is a Recreation Area that surrounds the Golden Gate and has incredible viewpoints.

**THE GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE has appeared in many films.

**More than 100,000 people cross over the bridge every day and 200 people work to keep it safe and secure even from earthquakes (terremotos).

**SAN FRANCISCO city is a marvellous city to go and visit, so, don't think a lot and GO!!
